Abstract Text:This session will provide participants with a thorough understanding of how the various features available in a synchronous, virtual classroom software can be used in conjunction with asynchronous activities to impact the student experience, as well as practical suggestions to promote learner engagement and, therefore, positive student outcomes.

Data will be presented that supports the assertion that synchronous activities can increase student achievement and success, while also impacting stakeholder satisfaction rates.

Two educators from around North America, and representing geographically dispersed institutions, will join the session online in Elluminate Live! to discuss how virtual classroom software, integrated with WebCT has impacted their programs, explaining the unique ways that it has been deployed in each context.

By the conclusion of this session, participants will have a practical understanding of how synchronous activities can impact learner outcomes, of strategies to engage learners in real-time, as well concrete examples of synchronous initiatives that can make a significant impact on the student experience and student satisfaction.
