Abstract Text:The Universidade do Porto is dedicated to T&L and R&D and, of course, to the whole training of individuals, with respect for they rights and active participation in the progress of the community. Like other colleges and universities around the world, Porto is working to change academic practices that have remained unchanged for centuries. The office of support for the new technologies in the education – GATIUP - is trying, since 1999, to implement strategies that raise the teaching staff awareness towards new technologies in T&L. In the year of 2003, the Institute of Common Initiatives and Resources of U.Porto, through the GATIUP started a brand new project: E-learningUP|2003-2004. This project was to be developed and followed from the perception phase of what e-learning is, passing to the development of contents, until the evaluation of the final results. This article will present this pilot project in several different perspectives: motivations, needs, procedures, partial results, obstacles and difficulties and also future expectations. We will also want to share with you all our outputs and statistical results as well as strategies and future initiatives that intend to give this work continuity.
