Description: | Add a new dimension to your WebCT course by incorporating vocal interaction! This session describes how Auburn University is enhancing hybrid and online courses with HorizonWimba’s EduVoice tools. Through Voice Authoring, Voice Email and Voice Boards, as well as the oral chat feature Voice Direct, students interact verbally with each other and with their instructors. These tools are especially useful in Foreign Language instruction and Distance Education courses, but are equally engaging for any discipline. |

Abstract Text: | Vocal interaction is an integral part of face to face instruction that is sorely missed in an online or hybrid course. Horizon Wimba's EduVoice tools are easily incorporated as WebCT Powerlinks and allow instructors to engage students in synchronous and asynchronous oral activities both inside and outside of the classroom. The four tools - Voice Email, Voice Boards, Voice Direct, and Voice Authoring - are quite flexible and may be placed almost anywhere within a course site. This session will demonstrate all the tools and showcase examples from current foreign language and distance education courses at Auburn University. Handouts with “best practices” will also be provided for participants. |
