Using WebCT to Enhance On-Campus Education Courses

Description:This session is at the second year evolution in the use of WebCT as an integral component for live, on-campus courses. The members of the NCATE accredited Eastern Connecticut State University Education Department incorporate threaded discussions and many other WebCT elements into the classroom.
Presentation Format:Poster
Topic:Enabling learning: Effective instructional practices and flexible design models
Target Audience:Faculty and Other Instructors
Appropriate Audience Level:Beginning or new users of WebCT
WebCT Version:WebCT Campus Edition
Abstract Text:Members of the Education Department faculty closely integrate the use of WebCT in existing coursework to extend student learning, encourage thoughtful and reflective practices, enhance out-of-class experiences, and provide resources to students in the graduate and undergraduate programs. This consciously determined exposure to web-based learning resources also encourages students to take available on-line courses when campus attendance is not feasible. Placing syllabi and other course materials in WebCT is only the beginning. This presentation looks at the second year of a longitudinal study regarding faculty use with on-campus courses.
