Abstract Text:As part of a Department of Labor H1B Grant, Broward Community College (Ft. Lauderdale , Florida) has designed and implemented a content repository as a response to assist its nursing faculty in developing and supplementing its online course and program offerings. Working with twelve nursing courses in the primary associate degree program, online course content including text, images, motion graphics, and assessments have been modularized, tagged, and uploaded into a course management system. Faculty members have the ability to search and retrieve these “raw assets” from the content repository. To date, more than 2000 assets of content have been categorized and uploaded into the content repository. This workshop will identify those factors that were necessary to be resolved in order for the repository to be successful. These include, but are not limited to: copyright challenges, identification of metadata core standards, content chunking and instructional design, content alignment with learning outcomes, limitations of a proprietary course management system, and faculty challenges including peer review, implementation strategies and professional development.
