Abstract Text:In a perfect world all training sessions would be attended in maximum capacity and attendees would have complete retention. But in higher education we know that isn't always the case. Although we plan to still utilize classroom, face to face sessions for faculty and support staff, we are realizing that we will never be able to meet the schedules of each person in need of training with the amount of training staff available. For this reason, we are looking toward Web-Based Training: Self-paced, Asynchronous and Synchronous. Determining the audience, the content, process for content creation as well as storage we decided to use WebCT Vista. For the support staff, specifically the UCS Help Desk, UCS lab assistants and Center for Instructional Technology staff, unique courses are being created to give then not only a training environment but a resource site as well. For all faculty the availability of an area with tutorials, best practices and area for discussion. We believe this is the most effective way to ensure our faculty and support staff are properly trained in order to perform their job functions.
