A-2: Beyond the Technology, Achieving Institutional Success with e-Learning
Detailed Description:The rapid evolution of digital technologies over the past decade has had a significant impact on the strategic, management, financial, operational, and competitive fundamentals of many sectors. The banking, airline, retail, and telecommunication sectors are classic examples of how globalization and technology have transformed the competitive landscape beyond recognition. Education, and particularly higher education, is not immune to the process and is going through its own transformation. Many of the pressures for change are external and customer driven but most are facilitated by opportunities created through rapidly evolving technologies and innovative ideas for their application that are impacting funding, teaching and learning, research, partnerships, and business interaction and innovation. Within this context this session will explore the key strategic issues that are driving e-learning, and their impact on the organization, drawing on WebCT's significant global experience in this respect. It will provide insights into the strategic benefits of an institutional-wide deployment and how to measure success and maximize the impact on quality, uptake, satisfaction and overall institutional performance.
