Detailed Description:Having a whiz-bang Web site or learning portal rarely guarantees success. This session is about the people side of implementation and measuring the return on investment. It examines people's motivators for using an online learning system. How do you know if your deployment is successful? What transforms the online learning initiative from an expense to an investment in the first place? These questions and others regarding successful implementations will be examined during this session.

Abstract Text:How do you know if your deployment is successful? How do you measure the return on investment? What transforms the online learning initiative from an expense to an investment in the first place? What needs to be measured to evaluate the effectiveness of the online learning solution? These questions are a fundamental component to a successful implementation.

The purpose of this session is to provide the information and context required for participants to devise an enterprise-wide strategy for successfully deploying an online learning and performance support system. The focus is on:

  • Discussing the barriers of human factors often associated with this type of system and approaches for resolving them.

  • Examining methods for encouraging end-user ownership of the online solution.

  • Presenting methods for measuring a system's effectiveness.

The session is designed to stimulate discussion and provide practical hands-on strategy-building exercises. Examples from various industries will be intertwined throughout the session to demonstrate the issues and their resolutions.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and resolve the “human” barriers that prevent a successful roll-out of an enterprise-wide online learning solution.

  • Identify approaches for assuming end-user ownership of the online solutions.

  • Define the evaluative metrics for assessing the return on investment of an online learning and solution.
