Abstract Text: | To realize Webster University's mission that includes student-centered learning and personalized instruction, instructors across all disciplines are encouraged to emphasize learner-centered methods instead of content centered approaches. In this session, faculty and course developers from various disciplines demonstrate innovative ways to create significant learning-centered experiences in the WebCT-based course environment? These student-centered, active learning strategies have been implemented in both online and web-enhanced courses. We demonstrate examples of how both student-centered strategies and multimedia applications have been integrated into the WebCT environment. Student-centered strategies, such as debates, case analyses, and class presentations, are combined with multimedia applications including interactive video, and animation to increase student participation and involvement in the WebCT-based courses, using WebCT tools such as the student presentation, discussion (groups), and chat features. The panelists will discuss the applicability of the strategies to other WebCT-based courses and programs at other institutions. | ||
