Abstract Text:Deakin Studies Online (DSO) is Deakin University's online teaching and learning environment. When Deakin implemented a new corporate teaching and learning system the decision was made to brand it so that new technologies could be added and integrated, but administration, and particularly user support and training could be managed under a recognised banner.

WebCT Vista is the central system in DSO, providing the core set of teaching and learning tools, but the requirements of teachers and students for new functionality has meant that a range of new applications and tools have been identified to add to the DSO suite, these include: · Synchronous communication · Lecture streaming · Plagiarism detection · ePortfolios · Content management · Content development tools · Content integration

As these new applications, tools and content sources are integrated into DSO, we also have to integrate them into systems and application administration processes, user training and support, and maintenance and upgrade cycles. The challenge is to manage multiple systems that users perceive as one.

This paper discusses the technical and the teaching and learning requirements for and considerations in implementing, integrating and supporting a suite of eLearning technologies. This includes discussion of Deakin's experience and potential improvements in the applications and the integration tools that we have identified in our initial integrations.
