H-8: Perfection Isn’t Practical – Fast Track Content Preparation
Detailed Description: | Getting materials in students’ hands quickly is proving more important than content being picture perfect. Applications like Impatica and Camtasia empower instructors to efficiently prepare engaging materials for deployment in WebCT. This session details a real-life example and shares student reaction on how valuable a contribution rapid response enhances learning.
Presentation Format: | Showcase
Topic: | Enabling learning: Effective instructional practices and flexible design models
Target Audience: | Course Designers, Faculty and Other Instructors
Appropriate Audience Level: | Beginning or new users of WebCT
Abstract Text: | The tools to assist in the preparation of course content are maturing rapidly to the point that any instructor can populate a course space with engaging course materials. Access to applications like Impatica, OnCue, Macromedia Captivate and Camtasia open up a realm of possibilities for both the technically astute faculty and others who feel uncomfortable in the use of teaching technologies. That is the good news. The better news is that these products have become more affordable, easier to learn and use and in some cases a simple extension of what Faculty already know in products like PowerPoint, and produce content that works well within a WebCT course space. The best news is that students find the enriched environment to be a powerful learning asset.
