Detailed Description:Communication is a key motivator for student learning in the online environment. Students desire and need prompt feedback to be successful. This session will examine different types of feedback - informational, acknowledgment, and assessment - in an effort to find the best strategies for providing feedback in an online setting.

Abstract Text:Communication is a key motivator for student learning in the online environment. Students desire and need prompt feedback to be successful. This session will examine different types of feedback (informational, acknowledgment, and assessment), the purposes and characteristics of feedback, strategies and tips for providing feedback, as well as possible issues that may occur when trying to meet student expectations. Specific student situations will be examined and audience participation will be encouraged by the use of these scenarios. The audience will identify appropriate or inappropriate examples of teacher feedback and discuss the reasoning behind their decisions and make suggestions for modifications.
