Detailed Description:The focus of this presentation will be to discuss the importance of designing student assessments to measure learning outcomes and how rubrics can be used for this purpose. The basics of rubric design will be featured with a discussion of its purpose and benefits. Tips will be provided on effective rubric design. Participants will have an opportunity of reviewing a sample rubric designed by the presenters.

Abstract Text:Description: Accurately gauging the extent to which a student progress meets the goals that have been set is one of the most difficult tasks which educators must perform. In order to do this effectively, it is essential that instructors design their course in such a way that learning objectives and assessment strategies employed in evaluating student learning are well-aligned with one another.
