Participants will be invited to discuss and share their thoughts on the results and their implications.

Abstract Text:WebCT Campus Edition (CE) provides a robust toolset that enables instructors to effectively support a variety of course delivery modes. Tool selection and use (by instructors and students) can be interpreted to reflect choices related to both instructional and learning styles. Equipped with an understanding of which tools are used, WebCT support staff could better plan training sessions, develop resource material and analyse system performance. All access to WebCT is recorded in the server logs and these can be analysed to determine tool use. This has been done for five institutions and similarities and differences in use determined. At all of the institutions, discussions, quizzes and content generated the most server requests. Differences between the institutions included the percentage of courses using the syllabus, my grades, chat and student homepage tools. This presentation will explore some of the differences and their possible sources. In addition, it will explore how the data can be used to improve support, and develop strategies for engaging faculty to understand the pedagogical benefits of specific tools. Participants will be invited to discuss and share their thoughts on the results and their implications.
