Abstract Text: | Outsourcing is an excellent alternative for institutions that would benefit from the advanced pedagogical, content management, branding and reporting features of WebCT Campus Edition and WebCT Vista, but do not want to support the hardware in-house. It is a great choice for institutions that want their initial period of deployment to be hosted in order to spread the hardware costs and staffing requirements of WebCT over multiple fiscal years, but that eventually plan to manage the deployment fully. In addition; institutions, consortia, and for-profits that expect to be highly scaled, who require customization and do not consider hosting part of their core competency, may wish to consider outsourcing as a long-term model. WebCT offers hosting solutions that include software and hardware management; certified Oracle DBA database management (WebCT Vista only); comprehensive backup services; a secure, state-of-the-art hosting facility; guaranteed uptime for Internet connectivity; and monitoring 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. This session addresses the most important parameters with respect to outsourcing both infrastructure and WebCT administration. In addition to infrastructure, this session will describe solutions available for 24x7 student and faculty support for both WebCT Vista and WebCT Campus Edition, as this is a need for many organizations interested in outsourcing infrastructure. | ||
