Abstract Text:With the increasing popularity of WebCT use among faculty at Seminole Community College, each term there are many faculty members who require WebCT training. However, faculty members interested in using WebCT are not always able to attend the face-to-face training sessions and workshops that we offer. In addition, some of our faculty who have already attended the training often need refresher training on tasks that are not performed on a regular basis. In order to meet the need for more just-in-time training, we are developing a comprehensive series of interactive online demonstrations and tutorials using Camtasia Studio. Camtasia Studio allows us to create an online repository of step by step WebCT training in a highly compressed, narrated video format suitable for web-based delivery. Faculty who cannot make the scheduled training sessions, or who need to review a particular task or tool can simply go online at their convenience and play back the training clips that they need, when they need them. This allows for a much more individual and personalized type of training which better meets the growing need for increasing flexibility and availability of WebCT training and professional development opportunities. This presentation will demonstrate some of the online tutorials that we have developed, and also provide a brief overview of how we created them and how we have made them available to faculty for their use.
