Detailed Description:Purdue University was one of the first to take advantage of WebCT Vista’s ability to allow multiple campuses to work within one course management system. With two campuses coming from WebCT Campus Edition, one campus having used BlackBoard and the fourth not having a CMS this endeavor could have proved unsuccessful. We have come together as a University community and help one another through the ins and outs of adopting a new CMS.

Abstract Text:Purdue University was one of the first to take advantage of WebCT Vista’s ability to allow multiple campuses to work within one course management system (CMS). Purdue’s main campus in West Lafayette and three of its satellite campuses have come together to implement this system. With two campuses coming from WebCT Campus Edition, one campus having used BlackBoard and the fourth not having a CMS this endeavor could have proved unsuccessful. However, by working collectively in support processes we have been able to come together as a University community and help one another through the ins and outs of adopting a new CMS.

This panel session will involve the discussion of how our support process works, as well as its successes and breakdowns. Particular topics include, but are not limited to, the pros and cons of email lists and of having one campus as the vendor contact, how to facilitate communication among the campuses, and how processes function when system wide problems occur. With this discussion, we hope to help other schools learn about the support processes needed when implementing WebCT Vista across multiple campuses.
