Abstract Text: | This session describes the background, methodology and results of converting an entire campus from Blackboard (Bb) to WebCT. Ithaca College is primarily a residential undergraduate liberal arts college that uses a course management system to enhance classroom learning. They successfully migrated from Blackboard to WebCT over the course of a year, allowing faculty (designers) to learn and develop their courses, and transition to a new online courseware management system. This campus-wide initiative affected 400+ faculty, 6000 students and 250+ online courses. The key to success was communication resulting in campus-wide buy-in. Implementation included a partnership with WebCT and piloting a small conversion. In the end, all Bb courses were converted to WebCT, and ongoing faculty support included a series of workshops, IC online tutorials, and one-on-one support. The conversion was a success and faculty continue to be enthusiastic about the use of WebCT and its capabilities, especially the conversion tool. Ithaca College is pleased to be a WebCT partner and enjoys the flexibility and depth of the product. | ||
