Abstract Text:In 2003, there were two WebCT certified trainers in Tennessee. These trainers valued their certification experience to the extent that they recommended a statewide initiative to certify at least one trainer from each of the Tennessee Board of Regents nineteen colleges and universities. Because travel funds are in short supply, the certification workshop was offered in Tennessee. In January 2004, twenty-three additional trainers completed the certification online course and face-to-face workshop. With two other certifications, this brings the number of certified trainers in Tennessee to twenty-seven. The impact on the quality and availability of training has been dramatic. The certification class is being followed by a continued community of trainers online, and annual meetings are also planned.
