Abstract Text:A centralized faculty development unit called the Innovation Zone (IZone) was established at Nova Southeastern University in the Fall of 2001. The purpose of the IZone is to provide support for online teaching solutions while developing and implementing a variety of pedagogical online teaching models. The presentation will serve as a success model demonstrating how a centralized faculty support unit adapted resources and personnel as it increased course production from 30 courses to approximately 1100 WebCT courses over a three year period. Additionally the model presented will demonstrate how the university was able to maximize the standardization of course development and minimize the duplication of university resources by centralizing faculty support and development. The primary focal point of this presentation will be to provide an in-depth overview of the processes and technological tools that were developed and implemented resulting in an effective faculty support structure.
