Abstract Text:Macromedia’s IMS Content Packager is the newest innovation for organizing classroom content. Organize and revitalize your existing content while making it SCORM compliant in Dreamweaver, then upload it as an easy-to-navigate content module in WebCT. This session will demonstrate step-by-step instructions on how to use IMS Content Packager to import material into WebCT. Handouts complete with screen captures will be distributed, so participants can easily perform the same functions on their own computer. Content Packager allows multiple web pages to be bundled together as a content module, encouraging new ways of presenting and sharing material with your trainees, students, or work group. IMS Content Packager opens new doors for class involvement and content development. This session will discuss one way Content Packager was used to create a unique “Community Text” as a class. The students’ individual pages were packaged together to make a “mosaic” of an existing text, which included interpretation and analysis. Repetition of this pattern created a discourse community of learners that worked together to create a more cohesive and visually satisfying text. The participant will gain limited access to the sample class to view examples of the Community Texts. This dynamic use of WebCT could work for all disciplines and have many assignment and course planning manifestations. This tool could be utilized for course developers as well as novice users. Questions, suggestions, and ideas are encouraged at this session to explore other uses and pedagogical benefits of this software.
