Detailed Description: | This session will showcase a successful online Honors general education course that has been taught using WebCT at Wright State University in Dayton, OH. It will define traditional Honors learning objectives and demonstrate the best practices for creating an effective online Honors course that does not compromise those learning objectives. Additionally, it will show that it is possible to create a dynamic online Honors community in the context of an online Honors course. | ||

Abstract Text: | Honors learning and online learning strike many college instructors as contradictory. But a successful online Honors course can be developed using a variety of WebCT course tools. This session will showcase a successful online Honors general education course that has been taught using WebCT at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. It will define traditional Honors learning objectives and demonstrate the best practices for creating effective Honors e-learning. Participants will learn which WebCT course tools most effectively help a course designer achieve these Honors learning objectives. Course tools that are less effective will also be discussed. Additionally, this session will show that it is possible to create a dynamic online Honors community in the context of an online Honors course. Participants will then be “walked through” a successful online Honors Western Civilization course. | ||
