Abstract Text:Campuses entice faculty to come on-board the online delivery format by offering them training and development support for their courses. Along comes "bigger, and better" and now the re-train must begin! It is often useful for trainers and faculty contemplating the use of a new system to hear how someone else has gone through the process. University of Houston has gotten on track and is moving down the rail with WebCT Vista. The process for re-training, and training faculty to use Vista was several semesters of pre-planning and coordination of efforts with the Admin side of Vista. This has resulted in the pilot roll-out of courses in Spring 04. This presentation details: how the training/re-training was developed and implemented; results of the first semester; what we would have done differently and will do differently for future semesters of training and support. A short description of the experience is the planning for over 600 courses utilizing WebCT; over 35,000 WebCT accounts; decisions for small initial pilot of 4 faculty of various degree of expertise; implementation of the pilot with results of the pilot; and the process to train and support the remainder of CE users on campus.
