The Design and Development of an Online, Case-Based Course in a Teacher Preparation Program

Description:During the spring semester of 2004, WebCT was used to develop an online, case-based course for pre-service teachers at the University of Texas Pan American. The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of the course using a pretest/post-test, single-group design. Results indicated that the mean post-test score was significantly higher than the mean pre-test scores, suggesting that the web-based course was effective in helping participants acquire the knowledge and skills needed.
Presentation Format:Oral
Topic:Enabling learning: Effective instructional practices and flexible design models
Target Audience:Course Designers, Faculty and Other Instructors
Appropriate Audience Level:Beginning or new users of WebCT
