Abstract Text: | As the popularity of online learning courses increases, plagiarism and academic misconduct is believed by some instructors and administrators to nurture in online learning environments. Yet online faculty and instructors are overprotective and leading in their use of new technologies to detect plagiarism. The objective of this session is to address these misconceptions and showcase the enormous efforts online faculty and instructors take to address these issues. In this showcase presentation session, faculty (both beginning and advanced) and administrators will learn new tools and techniques for dealing with detection of plagiarism and academic misconduct. A live demo will be provided on the use of such tools to augment current WebCT courses taught online. Moreover, an open discussion will be offered at the end of the session with participants on the implication of such tools for WebCT instructors. Additionally, the open discussion will serve as a channel to engage instructors and administrators in the reduction of misconceptions associated with teaching online. |
