Abstract Text: | The UHD WebCT Summer School Course is a professional development opportunity for faculty to learn WebCT at the University of Houston - Downtown. The program is delivered through WebCT. This session will showcase this effective program. The course allows faculty to learn WebCT by taking a WebCT course. The first iteration of this course occurred in Summer 2005. This program was developed by the training staff at UHD in an effort to tackle the need to develop WebCT skills in the UHD faculty. The 8-week course addresses 8 WebCT topics, including the Syllabus tool, the Communication tools, Quizzes/Exams, Assignments, Student Presentations, and Manage Students/Gradebook. Faculty are required to create a WebCT course to successfully complete the training course. This presentation will highlight the organization and development of the Summer School course as well as the instructional activities and faculty participation in the course. Additionally, the presentation will address the evaluations and results of this course. Participants in this session will have an opportunity to see the online training course as well as a course developed by one of the students of the online training course. | ||
