| Detailed Description: | Napier is combining Vista's enterprise architecture with customised SIS user screens to allow school administrators to control the release of Vista sections and faculty enrolments. By taking advantage of the roles and permissions available in the Community Manager, Vista support is widened into the schools and other service units. Napier’s pilot student portal on Microsoft SharePoint uses recently developed web components to provide My WebCT functionality and single sign-on to Vista module enrolments. | ||

| Abstract Text: | Since piloting CE3.8 in 2002, Napier University has seen a large uptake so that now around half our module provision has a WebCT presence. The investment in educational and technical support staff has been a significant catalyst, and one which is continuing in our WebCT Vista 4 implementation. In moving to a devolved model of eLearning administration, Napier is combining Vista's enterprise architecture with customised SIS user screens to allow local school administrators to control the release of Vista sections and faculty enrolments. Close alignment between our academic processes and WebCT Vista functionality significantly reduces system downtime during trimester roll-over. To widen the provision of faculty support for WebCT into the schools and other service units, we are taking advantage of the roles and permissions available in the Community Manager. A pilot student portal uses Microsoft SharePoint and recently developed web parts to provide My WebCT functionality and single sign-on to Vista module enrolments. | ||
