C-8: One Day per Week: A Hybrid RN Program
Detailed Description:Low-residency nursing programs are growing in popularity as students' needs for flexibility and the nursing shortage continue to impact health care and higher education. This session will focus on how one 2-year college leverages WebCT, clinical partnerships, and comprehensive support resources for nursing students and faculty in a hybrid program initially funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Presentation Format:Panel
Topic:Enabling learning: Effective instructional practices and student support models
Target Audience:Course Designers, Faculty and Other Instructors, E-learning Managers
Appropriate Audience Level:Beginning or new users of WebCT, Experienced WebCT users
Abstract Text:Presenters will share their experiences developing, implementing, and evaluating a hybrid RN option that integrates WebCT with comprehensive faculty and student support strategies. By sharing their course materials, discussing their techniques for integrating WebCT with clinical instruction and support systems, and summarizing the best practices that have emerged from this program, presenters will enable participants to apply these lessons learned to nursing programs at their own institutions. Presenters hope in this way to disseminate efforts that will continue alleviating the nursing shortage, in keeping with the original sponsorship goals of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
