Detailed Description:This session will discuss UBC’s migration plan for moving from WebCT Campus Edition 4 to WebCT Campus Edition 6. Presenters will discuss the role that the user community has played in the planning process, strategies for ensuring a successful migration, and plans for students to assist in training faculty as they transition to WebCT Campus Edition 6. Share your own experiences and hear about UBC’s lessons learned in terms of hardware planning, usability, migration, operations, and more.

Abstract Text:I will discuss the following:

STRATEGY: Need for growth, server performance, need for tool expansion, bad user interface in CE 4. Integration of other systems. Limitations of CE 4.

PROJECT PLANNING: How we studied the Vista platform; what role our user community has in our planning; our strategies for ensuring a sucessful migration; how we plan to use students to help in training faculty.

CURRENT STATUS: Where we are in the project, and open to discussions with audience members; also what we have learned in terms of hardware assessment, usability, migration, and operations by the time of the presentation.
