Abstract Text:This session will explore the integration of a “blogging” or digital diary component in a WebCt class. Classes from several disciplines can incorporate a blog as a form of reflection of student learning. Two separate experiences from two disciplines will be presented. The incorporation of a blog provides a communication tool to build community among students in both online and in- person classes. This session will allow participants to share their experiences with blogging. Topics to be addressed include:

The delivery options for incorporating a blog, a comparison of student involvement in blogging – graduate vs. undergraduate, types of blogging systems, student training in “how to blog”, student expectations regarding participation, assessment of learning outcomes and faculty training.
