| Detailed Description: | Are you tired of the same ole’ lectures presented the same ole’ way? Look inside your WebCT toolbox and see what resources are available to you. Blinn College faculty use software programs in combination with WebCT to conduct online office hours, create study games, give online lectures with Power Point and video, present group projects, and much more. Join us to explore fresh ideas for using the software that you already have and discover ways to update your WebCT toolbox with new complementary technologies. | ||

| Abstract Text: | This presentation showcases some of the different software programs that are currently being utilized by Blinn College faculty to enhance their distance education courses. These programs are: Elluminate, Movie Maker, Producer, StudyMate, and more. Our faculty use these programs for online office hours, to hold virtual classes, to create study games, to create online videos, to encourage creation of alternative projects rather than writing a paper, to give online lectures with Power Point and video, and to present group projects. These programs provide unique opportunities to enrich the WebCT environment and add real life application. These programs will be presented with video demonstrations or applicable examples that participants can implement within their own institution. Blinn College is committed to making resources available to the faculty to ensure the success of their courses. Some of those resources are two full-time Instructional Designers who provide individual or group training sessions, a website with online tutorials and help resources, and a helpdesk where faculty can call with questions. Blinn College places a high priority on its faculty being aware of the resources available to them as well as supporting the faculty using these products. | ||
