This session will share experiences in using software applications and other methods to secure online quizzes and improve test validity in both wired and wireless environments. Benefits and limitations of these software applications and methods will be discussed.

Abstract Text:The session shares experiences in using software applications to secure online student assessment and improve test validity in both wired and wireless environments. The session will demonstrate how the instructor tool can control the student's access to local and network resources and monitor the student's activities.

Strengths and limitations of the applications will be discussed from both technological and pedagogical perspectives. Key issues to address include: (a) type of content to push to the students, (b) question types and quiz designs, (c) network setup and accessibility.

Alternative methods will be suggested to explore proactive assessment and further improve test validity in the online learning environment.
