Abstract Text:Whether you are just beginning with Vista or your system has been around for years, the ‎task of implementing and testing third party tools will most likely be a daunting one for ‎you. How should you tackle the task of implementing and testing these tools? What ‎steps are needed to be successful during implementation? This session will showcase the ‎approach Purdue University uses when working with third party tools, both in regards to ‎Vista and in general. Important issues such as gathering justification for the tool, doing ‎research, loading and testing the tool, and finally implementation of it will all be ‎examined. While going through each step, lessons learned from Purdue's experience will ‎also be discussed. After this session, audience participants will leave with a better ‎understanding of how to implement and test third party tools and with ideas they can ‎incorporate into their own institution's implementation and testing strategy.‎
