Abstract Text: | This presentation will showcase the process developed at North Carolina State University for requesting courses in WebCT Vista. How can faculty request courses in WebCT Vista with the least amount of administrator intervention as possible? This panel will outline the web application and processes developed for the purpose of creating new courses in WebCT Vista as quickly as possible and with as little of a support burden as possible. This presentation will cover: - A description of legacy request systems and the problems they exposed. - A technical overview of the strategies employed to integrate the campus SIS with Vista. - The information about students, faculty and staff that is necessary to develop such a system. Best practices developed to get this information and how to keep this information current as possible. - An overview of the interface and graphical design techniques employed to make the request system as easy to use as possible. - Spreading the burden - policies employed to allow the requesting faculty member to manage their own requests as quickly and efficiently as possible - A description of the support and training services offered to help users develop a familiarity with the request system - Policies and procedures instituted to minimize bugs and service downtime. | ||
