Abstract Text: | This showcase addresses the assessment experience of the Criminal Justice Department at The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) which handles a large percentage of online teaching using WebCT for the university. This was a comparison of teaching and student learning using both the “traditional” in-class students and the online students. The core course "Introduction to Criminal Justice" was the baseline for this assessment's reliability. Validity was obtained based on the data needed to assess understanding of the American criminal justice system. In-class and online surveys and grades were used to indicate both student learning and quality of departmental resources impacting student learning. Through coding and pattern-matching, similarities and dissimilarities were identified. The findings shed new light on departmental planning; impacting teaching techniques and resource allocation. | ||
