F-13: Research and Accountability Reporting from WebCT Vista Data
Detailed Description:Increasingly, higher education institutions are being asked to provide empirical data on the performance of their students and faculty. WebCT Vista can be useful in responding to these inquiries because it is a rich source of data for online learning behavior. This session will discuss the uses of WebCT Vista data and strategies for making this information readily available to stakeholders.
Presentation Format:Showcase
Topic:Measuring outcomes: Student achievement and course success
Target Audience:System Administrators, Senior Administrators, E-learning Managers
Appropriate Audience Level:Beginning or new users of WebCT, Experienced WebCT users
Abstract Text:A review of the standards of the six US regional accrediting bodies revealed 14 different categories of standards relating to technology. The data collected in Vista can be useful for administrators attempting to comply with these standards. While a number of reports exist in Vista that can be used to address these needs, researchers and administrators may have additional questions that may require different calculations of this data. This presentation looks at the 14 accreditation categories, and demonstrates ways of addressing these categories using Vista data. A tool developed to provide convenient access to this data to multiple stakeholders will be demonstrated.
