A-10: Online Multi-Media Student Presentations for Newbies
Detailed Description:Give your online students the chance to "stand up in front of the class"! Using third-party software, such as ImpactEngine.com, students can easily create and display interactive, multi-media presentations that include audio, video, graphics, music, or Flash objects. This session will demonstrate the University of Hawaii’s use of ImpactEngine.com to enhance learning, engagement, and interaction for students in online courses.
Presentation Format:Showcase
Topic:Enabling learning: Effective instructional practices and student support models
Target Audience:Course Designers, Faculty and Other Instructors, K-12 Educational Staff
Appropriate Audience Level:Beginning or new users of WebCT, Experienced WebCT users
Abstract Text:Imitating FTF student presentations is not possible in the current WebCT environment and many online students lack expert skills in digital multi-media tools.

Using 3rd party software, such as ImpactEngine.com, available through the internet--- students can easily create and display interactive, multi-media presentations that include audio, video, graphics, music, or Macromedia Flash objects.

Use of this subscription tool has enhanced learning, engagement and interaction in our online graduate music education courses at the University of Hawaii. Student presentations created in Impactengine.com are automatically converted to Flash presentations (without training in Macromedia Flash) and can be shared in numerous ways on the internet.

If your courses would benefit from highly interactive student presentations, and your students are not experts in web design---this session may help.
