Abstract Text:Georgia Southwestern State University found itself without its mission-critical WebCT Campus Edition Server one business day prior to Spring Break. All data had been lost for 60 fully online courses as well as a number of hybrid courses and courses used as a supplemental component to face to face classes. The institutions of the University System of Georgia and the Board of Regents, utilizing centralized communication channels, support tools, and a project management/support structure addressed the emergency situation and successfully implemented WebCT Vista at Georgia Southwestern State University in less than ten business days. In a carefully coordinated effort, multiple WebCT Vista Trainers from across the state answered the call for assistance and converged on Americus, Georgia using their experience to provide one-on-one training with more than 85 unique Full Time and Adjunct Faculty through 138 contact sessions. Examining the scenario above, this presentation focuses on how effective relationships were built acrosss the University System of Georgia as well as how the benefits of a centralized hosting structure were leveraged to produce a successful outcome. An in-depth case study of this scenario will be made available to participants.
