Deploying enterprise e-learning: Strategies for success

When e-learning expands enterprise-wide, the amount of educational content, learning information, and resources involved increases significantly dramatically changing the way that institutions deploy e-learning to achieve their goals. These presentations explore not only why enterprise approaches are needed for e-learning, but also the implementation strategies and organizational change necessary to support e-learning at the enterprise level.

Driving student success: Attracting, supporting and retaining learners

Online learning has caused institutions to rethink how they are interacting with their students before, during and after their institutional experience.  These presentations describe how online students are being recruited, oriented, and supported.  Included are talks on student recruitment, learner orientation and successful instructional support strategies.

Empowering educators: Professional development models and methods

One of the biggest challenges that institutions face is determining methods for educating faculty (academic staff) in order to take advantage of new e-learning opportunities. These presentations outline models and strategies for introducing and training instructors on how to develop and teach online courses.  These include effective workshop techniques, training strategies, and programmatic approaches.

Enabling learning: Effective instructional practices and flexible design models

The advent of online learning has inspired educators to fundamentally rethink how they are designing learning environments, and how we measure success.  These presentations focus on course development strategies and design models that engage learners and build community in the online environment, as well as techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of particular instructional approaches.

Integrating the campus: Technical solutions and extended uses

As more instructors and students use WebCT on a campus, the need for a stable, dependable system becomes more and more critical.  In these sessions, presenters provide insight on the technical requirements and best practice administrative techniques that support wide-scale deployment of WebCT. These include integration of other campus systems, such as Student Information and Library Systems, routine maintenance procedures, and policy development.

Measuring outcomes: Student achievement and course success

Online learning has allowed for new and inventive methods of measuring student success.  The technology has also expanded the opportunity for research on student outcomes.  These presentations focus on student assessment, institutional research, and retention issues.

Partnering for success: Multi-institution and consortium challenges and solutions

Partnering between institutions is becoming more common place these days, as institutions are looking to avoid duplication of efforts and reduce costs.  These presentations describe partnership efforts, including the reasons for collaborative efforts as well as lessons learned for future endeavors.

Planning e-learning: Strategies for Institutional Change

To be successful with e-learning, institutions must have a clear strategy that is aligned with their overall mission and goals and a well-developed plan for growth and implementation.  These presentations provide examples of plans and strategies that support successful WebCT implementations.
